The options of internet connection vary and really dependent on your provider, country regulations, connectivity availability in geografical areas, pricing, etc. What works (and is standard) in one place or region or country, can be unavailable in another. The connectivity you might be looking are starting with various DSL types, Broadband (Wireless-based and FTTH/FTTN-based), 4G/5G data (in many countries), Starlink, etc - those are typically provide internet which reliable enough for Expert Remote purposes. And all of them - subject to your research and their service availability and quality. Remember - you are looking for reliable/quick internet for the Remote, because anything "below average" may become your biggest dissapointment in future.

    When suitable provider found, the understanding of what is included (and if anything mandatory) is next. These days providers rarely mandate their equipment on customer side, and WiFi routers or modems are more offered as "complimentary". But what you have to consider - whether it really suitable (or OK, but with limitations) to be used for your purposes of the Expert Remote.

    Lets look into simple example: you found Starlink is available. Starlink these days (2025-2026) comes with Gen 3 WiFi router (with in-build two Ethernet LAN ports). When it sounds absolutely good enouth - as we only need to plug Expert Starter and SDR - for most basic scenarios, but just go beyond and think about something like "do I need VPN?" and "is VPN supported by this router?". Why you may need VPN? Example: you want to power On/Off devices in a Shack remotely and found "cheapest option" requires connect via VPN.

    And remember - do not overcomplicate. "Extended security" and "extended control options" are all great, but do you really need them "on day 1" ... and, perhaps, "on day 2" within your Expert Remote shack? Hence, realistically evaluate your tasks for the Remote Shack. In many scenarios your will find "complimentary" router might be enough. And what if "not". Then lets have a look and typical option.
