  • Expert Starter (on Raspberry Pi).
    Why Expert Starter on Raspberry Pi? Well, it is not mandatory to be on Raspberry, you can select practically any Win/Mac/Linux. However, when it comes to Remote Shack practical implementations, there are few parameters to consider: power consumptiion, heat dissipassion, physical size, auto-rebooting/auto-run capability, cost, configuration simplicity. The fact is - Raspberry Pi "ticks all the boxes" and that is what makes it popular choise.
    Expert Starter can run on practically any currently available ARM 64bit architecture Raspberry Pi model with in-build Ethernet port: Raspberry Pi 3 (2016) and on to Pi 3, Pi 4, Pi 5 (and 6, when it will come up). And it is pretty much availabe from online stores (at least, on Jan 2026 - it is).
    Note, that you will need to buy additionally the SDcard - it typically is not in default hardware package and you do not need top speed card, rather mid range 32GB SanDisk Ultra/Ultra Plus (or similar) will be more than enough for the Remote Starter purposes.

    Additionally you will need the monitor cable with Micro-HDMI (Type D) - this is what used at Raspberry Pi 4 and 5 side. Typically Micro-HDMI-to-HDMI/VGA/DisplayPort cables are available on Aliexpress. You will also need USB-C cable to power the device, common USB mouse and USB keyboard and RJ-45 ethernet cable.

    Step 1. Download Raspberry OS.
    In browser go offical download, select 'Raspberry Pi OS (64-bit)' ans choose either 'Download' from https or 'Download torrent':

    The latest version (at the moment of this giude writing) is 2025-12-04-raspios-trixie-arm64-full.img.xz with the size just above 2.0GB.
