Step 2. Create bootable USB drive.
There are two options: either use official Raspberry PI imager (recommended as it is more feature reach), or, alrernatively use same process as in 'Step 2. Make bootable USB flash drive for opnSense installation'. The below how it is done with official imager.
Insert SDcard (typically use USB-to-SD adapter) into your PC. Start 'Imager', select downloaded Operating System file --> 2025-12-04-raspios-trixie-arm64-full.img.xz (no need to unarchive), select SDcard in 'Storage' and hit next (no need to select Device):

Next screen will prompt you to apply OS customisation settings, select 'Edit Settings' (so you do not need to enter them later, the Raspberry will already boot with those pre-configured):

You can enter Hostname, set username and password, set locale:

Modify services:

and instruct to safely eject SDcard after finishing:

Once ready click 'Yes'

Confirm the SDcard will be erased and wait for the process completion (usually 5-10 min dependend on the SDcard type/speed + another 10 min for self-validation).
