'all-in-one-place' practical setup guide
opnSense configuration backup files
The below attached config files may help simplify the configuration of the opnSense.
Once the opnSense OS installation and initial setup (Steps 3.1 - 3.12) completed and management interface is accessible via 192.168.16.1 in browser, the provided backup config can be "restored" to the system, bringing all configuration as described in steps 4.1 - 4.3.6 preconfigured.
Note: provided backup file archived with zip, unarchive them before using.
Note: both configs WAN interface based on Starlink WAN. If your WAN connectivity is different, the WAN Gateway and WAN interface may require modification.

The following parameters require attantion before attempting to use the backup config:
  • 1. Check interface naming in your Mini-PC. Note that in provided configs the interfaces named igc0, igc1, igc2 and igc2. If in your system interfaces have different naming, then edit .xml backup file before using it: replace igc0 (and all other respectively) with required naming. Check section 3.8 to undrstand interface naming.
  • 2. Provided configs are only suitable for 4-port (ETH) midels of Mini-PC.
  • 3. After restoring the provided config, the management UI credentials will change to:
    login: root
    login: expertremote
Do not forget to set your own password!

  • Files:
backup file for CGNAT-based WAN (common Starlink basic without VLAN) (recommended for most users)
backup file for CGNAT-based WAN (Starlink basic with VLAN 50)
