Remote Shack with Expert Remote

Remote Shack Power/Rotator Control System and Yaesu Rotator Controller for the Expert Remote.

The following diagram (which you alredy seen on previous page) explains one of the possible options of the remote shack composition:

The "green box" in the diagram is "Remote Shack Power/Rotator Control System" - device for controlling up to 15 power sockets AND rotator operations.

In current version the only Yaesu rotators are supported (as those are most popular).

From this current project point of view, the Yaesu rotators are two types: 1. Very simple (mech-electical) и 2. Less simple. Very simple - those without external control socket and Less simple those with it. Main difference is the original rotator price.

The only way to enable "Remote" functionality for these models - is to completely replace the control board inside the control box. The original to be swap for Yaesu Rotator Controller one, making this simple, cheap and manual device mu-uch more powerful and full ready for Expert Remote.

This option, however, in exhange requires from user the ability to think, use solder tool and multimeter. It also requires opening the original control box to replace the board and switch/solder the wires. Once completed, the only what will be left from original: the transformer, dial with its motor and gear and buttons. Plus you will need to switch from 5-pin cable to Rotator (which likely in use) to 6-pin one.

For the Less simple models there is option 2:
No need to open original controller or change controller-rotator cable. There is 6-pin Mini-DIN connector at the back of the control box and all you will need is the cable connecting it to the "Remote Shack Power/Rotator Control System" board (only 5 pins used).

Briefly about remote shack LAN.
Option 1 will require 2 free LAN ports, Option 2 will require only one LAN port. If you remote shack is based on this manual - you have two free ports on MiniPC. And if those already used - you will need external LAN switch.

Default IP addresses of both devices are set for the same LAN segment used in SunSDR by default: 192.168.16.x/24. Can be changed to any Static or DHCP.

Wha is the communication with Expert Remote?
TCI. Both devices support full TCI stack. Plus there is dedicated registration of the devices with Starter and Remote Cloud.

Both devices utilise Web UI (you saw them in demo video in Telegram). Web UI can be used to configure devices while in remote shack. And for the remote operations there is dedicated cros-platform UI (Win, Mac and Linux).
